SAARC Music Foundation Established to Promote and Preserve Music in the SAARC Region

October 5, 2024,Kathmandu. In an effort to protect the music, art, and culture of SAARC nations while fostering brotherhood among all countries through music, the SAARC Music Foundation has been officially registered under the leadership of musician B.P. Wagle.

The foundation aims to promote various forms of art and literature scattered across South Asian countries by organizing events, competitions, and seminars, thereby facilitating cultural exchange among SAARC nations.

Prominent personalities who have significantly contributed to the promotion of Nepali music and culture, both domestically and internationally, have been appointed as advisors to this foundation. The advisory board includes Suresh Chandra Adhikari, President of the Music Royalty Collection Society of Nepal; senior lyricist and Secretary of the Music Royalty Collection Society Nepal, B. Pande; leading author and gynecologist Dr. Bhola Rizal; legal expert and writer Shashi Sharma Majgaiya; and Nirmal Kumar Thapa, a prolific author dedicated to introducing Nepali art and literature to the world.

B.P. Wagley, a long-standing figure in the Nepali classical music scene, has lent his voice to numerous songs and composed many others. He has received various accolades, including the National Youth Talent Award – 2081 from the Government of Nepal last year, and serves as the founding president of the foundation. The leadership team includes Ganesh Subedi as Vice President, Bhadra Wali as Secretary, Parvati Chapagai as Treasurer, and Arun Gandra as Executive Member, all of whom have been active in the Nepali music industry for many years.


Additionally, for public relations, the foundation has appointed young entrepreneur Monika Subedi, while Manoj K.C., an experienced program director from various television programs, will oversee programming. Eshwar Raj Bhandari, a veteran journalist, has been designated as the communications coordinator, and senior legal expert Arun Subedi will serve as the legal advisor.
